CPRiS
CPRiS – Cardio-Pulmonary-Resucitation in Schools
CPRiS is a scheme to try and increase the number of people who have knowledge of basic life support by going into schools and youth groups to demonstrate and share these simple but potentially life-saving skills.
CPRiS gives medical students the opportunity to obtain current and fluent resuscitation skills, and practice paediatric communication skills.
CPRiS benefits pupils by allowing them to gain the self esteem and confidence required to deal with real life emergencies. They will obtain skills which could possibly aid them to save someone’s life.
We have structured sessions of 60 minutes, consisting of three stations each consisting of a practical demonstration and an opportunity to try out these skills. One/ two medical students will lead each station to a group of 6 pupils.
Station One – Basic Life Support – CPR techniques
Station Two – Recovery Position
Station Three – Choking
We are also willing to lead an optional health-promotion station about the effects of cardiovascular risk factors – smoking, alcohol consumption and diet which would last around 15 minutes.
Previous comments we have received from Leicester students who have attended our workshops are:
” I enjoyed the different scenarios and demonstrations”
“I enjoyed the hands on elements”
“It was really useful – it helped me to learn how to do CPR”
“Thank you, it was really good to learn something useful”
Students unanimously assessed the teaching as either very good or excellent.
We offer training in order to prepare students to teach these techniques.
