Global Health Week: Africa Night
Friday 23rd October
19:00
Fraser Noble Hall
£4 for members, £5 for non-members
Global Health Week ends with our biggest event – Africa Night. At this amazing event, there will be lots of interesting talks regarding the forgotten riches of this beautiful continent, as well as genuine African entertainment, African food and a wine reception.
The talks at this event also aim to raise awareness of the poverty in Africa at the moment. Poverty is the number one killer in the world today, outranking smoking as the leading cause of death, which is hardly surprising given the number of people in the world that survive on meagre incomes, often in appalling conditions.
Poverty remains the cause and effect of Africa’s most severe problems. From the framework of social determinants of health, the critical problems of malnutrition, HIV-AIDS and other infectious diseases of Sub-Saharan Africa are symptoms of poverty.
All the money raised from this event will be going towards our chosen charity, “The Gondar Project”, which supports medical students in Ethiopia.
Don’t miss out on this fantastic event and avoid disappointment by making sure you buy your tickets without delay.
