My name is Hassan Hussain and I have the honour of being Medsin Leicester’s Co-President for the year 2011-2012. Along with Ishan, I will be generally responsible for the overall direction of Medsin and ensuring that this correlates with Medsin-UK. The job entails being the contact person for externals and is responsible for representing Medsin-Leicester on a National Level.

My job is to maintain this website, and to handle all the technology needs of our society. I also help the secretary with clothing orders. I did question the title of Webmaster, but Webmistress doesn’t sound very appealing either..

Motivates Medsinners about global health issues and keeps an eye on the national campaigns. Organises shout-outs and posters for the various causes. Sets up campaigns within projects, a PharmAware committee, new campaigns and National Campaign Day.

Involved in all existing projects. Liaises with the social secretary. Helps develop committees for new projects. Finds resources for projects. Keeps an eye on Medsin UK for any new and interesting projects. Organises Projects’ Fair and Projects section of the newsletter.

Organises social events to prevent Medsin from being serious all the time. Helps publicise events. Point of contact between the committee, Medsin members and non-members. Organises bar crawls, skydiving and 24-hr event. Thinks of ingenious ways of mixing fun and serious issues. Helps in fundraising.

Most events will be very educational about global health so it’s very important to be able to effectively communicate the aims. Publicises every event through posters, lectures, shout-outs, the website and word of mouth. Helps the secretary with the clothing orders. Maintains the Medsin MSB notice board.

Explains important issues. Requires a very good grasp of the events’ themes. Presents global health issues to the committee every meeting. Organises large educational events, such as debates, seminars, lectures and movies. Plans Fairtrade Day. Keeps in contact with speakers and organises their transport.
