Sexpression



We are Sexpression Leicester, a branch of the UK charity Sexpression: UK. Our aim is to provide peer-led sex education sessions in secondary schools across Leicester city and the surrounding area as well as promoting good sexual health to the public.

Currently, we have managed to reach hundreds of pupils between the ages of 12 and 16 from a variety of different backgrounds, providing them with basic knowledge in the areas of puberty, relationships, safe sex and sexually transmitted infections in a fun yet educational manner.

This year we aim to branch out even further to youth groups and organise at least three teaching events that you can get involved in, which will not only make a difference to many children’s lives but will also challenge your teaching skills by delivering a sex-ed workshop.

We also run campus based campaigns promoting safe sex by teaming up with the union and holding chlamydia screening days. Everyone who agreed to do a test was able to have a photo with one of our committee members dressed up in a giant condom suit. This is what Sexpression is about: making sex and STI’s a comfortable topic to talk about whilst having fun!

We also help raise awareness for HIV each year on world aids day and try to carry out many small events to get members of the public involved. This year we had a balloon release, tied red ribbons around trees in Victoria Park and sold tickets for a special night at the union.

Last but not least, we must not forget the infamous sexual fantasy bar crawl, held every year where you all get the chance to dress up as taboo as you like, raise money for charity and get amazing drink deals – all for just £4!

Basically, ours is a really exciting, challenging society to get involved with – we not only provide some of the best social events in the calendar, we also strive to make a real difference in the local community. We need your help to make Sexpression bigger and better this year!
